Yes. Both the online and on-campus programs carry accreditation by the AACSB (Association for the Advancement of Collegiate Schools of Business), the premier international accrediting body for business schools, for both Business Administration and Accounting; only 8 percent of business schools worldwide have achieved this distinction.
Completion of the online program will result in a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a concentration in Professional Business from California State University, Fullerton. This degree is offered by the Mihaylo College of Business and Economics at CSUF—the largest accredited business school on the West Coast, nationally recognized for accreditation in both its business and accounting programs.
The faculty members of the online program are the same faculty who teach for the on-campus programs. Faculty members bring state-of-the-art practices, concepts and technologies to the curriculum and classroom through active involvement in research projects. Many faculty members bring first-hand experience to their courses through involvement in consulting and executive training activities.
The online program is structured to be completed in three years and via part-time enrollment. Students will complete two courses total each term (Fall, Spring and Summer). The traditional 16-week term is split into two eight-week sessions. Students will complete one course per eight weeks, but there is an option to accelerate if the student is eligible. The option to accelerate will be based on course availability and the schedule is determined by your academic advisor.
International students are permitted to take only one "web" or "internet" course per semester (maximum 3 units) to count toward their required full-time enrollment for the purpose of maintaining F-1 or J-1 visa status. Because this program involves taking at least two online classes per term, international students are not eligible. In addition, this program is designed for part-time enrollment and most international students are required to enroll full-time. Yes. The Online BA in Business Administration is a self-support degree program (not supported by state tax revenue); therefore the tuition reflects a slightly higher rate than similar CSUF campus programs. However, the same faculty teach this program and the same degree is awarded.
To prepare students for the online program, it is recommended that all lower-division coursework be completed prior to enrolling. To see detailed admission and CSU requirements, please visit our Admissions Requirements page.
If you attended a California community college, you may use ASSIST to check if your classes will transfer to CSUF. Contact the advising and counseling center at your college for assistance. If you are not a California resident, please view the state regulations page to verify your eligibility for enrollment. You may also contact the advising and counseling center at your community college for assistance.
We do everything we can to ensure your online experience will mirror that of an on-campus student, but there are a few things you should know before you get started. To learn more about how to succeed as an online student, please visit our Learning Online page.
Each course online will be structured differently depending on the instructor teaching the course. Generally, instructors teach the courses through discussion boards, pre-recorded video lectures, PowerPoints and other methods.
To uphold our accreditation and ensure the quality of the program, we utilize a third-party vendor, ProctorU, to proctor all exams. Proctoring is done online at no cost to the student. It is the student’s responsibility to have the proper equipment (external website and microphone). Students are typically provided a window of time during which they must schedule and take exams. Exams should be scheduled ahead of time.
